Emerging from AI utopia

In an editorial published in Science, Edward Santow, Australia's Human Rights Commissioner, is asking if legal frameworks can protect us from the dark side of this brave new world of technology.

Reaffirming that laws apply to the use of AI, as they do in every other context, he insists that they need to be applied more rigorously and effectively in the new technology context. He also suggests targeted reform to fill the gaps that have been exposed by the unprecedented adoption of AI and related technologies.

The editorial can be read here.
