Using phone positioning data to monitor the efforts of social distancing?

In an article La Presse of March 24, Tristan Péloquin reports that researchers, politicians and companies, in Canada and elsewhere, would consider using cellphone positioning data to monitor the efforts of social distancing imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

 

Three Quebec jurists, including Professor Vincent Gautrais, director of the CRDP, holder of the Chaire LR Wilson and a member of JusticIA, have spoken out on privacy laws, which in principle grant such powers to governments in times of crisis.
